Oceana is a very small town located in Wyoming County West Virginia. Oceana is the oldest city in Wyoming County with a population of just over 1,300 people. Ocean is a great town to stay and eat in if your are following the Coal Mining Heritage Trail, hiking at the Twin Falls State Park or riding ATVs on the Hatfield and McCoy Trails.


History of Oceana WV

Oceana was established in 1797 by early settler and Revolutionary War veteran John Cooke, and Oceana was county seat of Wyoming County until 1907. Pineville was then designated as the county seat after a series of disputed elections.
