The town of Warrenton is located in the Piedmont region in Faquier county Virginia at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Warrenton’s Virginia wine and horse countryside is a popular destination nearby to Washington DC. Warrenton is Faquier county’s shopping and business center. Civil War history is prevalent in Warrenton with its brick sidewalks, museums and soldier memorials. History of Warrenton VA

A trading post called the “Red Store”, was located at the crossroads junction of the Falmouth-Winchester and Alexandria-Culpeper roads where the beginnings of Warrenton began. The courthouse was built in the location of the “Red Store” in the 1790s. The town of Warrenton was incorporated in 1810 and named after General Joseph Warren, a Revolutionary war hero. The warren Green Hotel hosted many famous people including Marquis de Lafayette, James Monroe, Andrew Jackson, Henry Clay, and Theodore Roosevelt. Also on the hotel steps, General George McClellan gave a farewell to his Civil War officers in 1862.

In 1951 the government established the Warrenton Training Center a secret CIA communications facility as well as an underground relocation bunker to support the government in the event of a nuclear attack.
