The town of Tazewell is located in Claiborne county on the northern slope of Wallen Ridge in the East Tennessee Blue Ridge Mountains. Tazewell is the county seat of Claiborne county and the town is named after Henry Tazewell from Virginia. History of Tazewell TN

in 1750 Dr. Thomas Walker publicized the Cumberland Gap area bringing hunters to Claiborne county. The land belonged to the Cherokee and Shawnee Indian Tribes.
